Module Outline
The Climate Justice Dissertation module provides students with an opportunity to integrate what they
have learnt throughout their studies, developing their own research design, exploring a topic in depth,
and producing a single, sustained piece of writing. The module will involve the design, planning and
execution of the dissertation, with the support of a supervisor, and may include the collection of
empirical data or the use of secondary source material. Students choose their own topics, and develop
their own approaches to investigating the topic, drawing on earlier skills-based modules and on
interests developed through the module of the degree programme.
Module learning outcomes
Formulate, devise, plan and execute an independent project exploring an
issue relevant to Climate Justice, Sustainability & Development
Deploy established techniques of analysis and enquiry to address an
issue relevant to Climate Justice, Sustainability & Development
Extend and apply knowledge derived from across the degree programme
to issues and debates related to Climate Justice, Sustainability &

Critically evaluate data, concepts, and arguments in order to support a
thesis of the student’s own
