About our classes

We run an extensive group exercise programme, from high-energy sessions to low-impact and mindful movement.

Group exercise classes are free for student gold and silver members. Price per class for bronze student members is £4.40.

Classes are subject to change and you can  to check available classes and gym sessions ahead of booking.

      • Aerial circus beginners

        Tuesdays, 10am-11am

        You will learn skills on the trapeze, rope and silk with a qualified aerial practitioner and in a supportive environment.

        N.B There will be no class on 19 August

      • Aerial yoga

        Thursdays, 10.45am-11.45am

        Instructor: Kitty

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

        We recommend you wear long sleeves and long trousers but this isn’t essential. Please wear clothing with no zips or buckles, and remove watches and jewellery before each class.

      • Body conditioning

        A high energy class using a mix of simple martial arts moves mixed with traditional aerobics exercises to create a full body workout. Kick, punch and squat away the calories with fat burning and stress releasing fun workout. Suitable for all abilities & fitness levels, no martial arts experience needed.

        A session that focuses on all over body workout. This class aims to get you stronger, leaner, help you burn more calories and is guaranteed to leave you feeling like you have had a good session. The class is aimed at all levels from the beginner through to the advanced trainer.

      • Indoor group cycling

        Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

      • Metabolic training

        Tuesdays, 5.30pm-6.30pm

        Instructor: Sussex Sport Fitness Team

        Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Fitness Room

        An advance class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires a good experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout. Suitable for those with previous lifitng experience and thos wanting to push themselves.

      • Pilates

        Thursdays, 12.05pm-12.50pm

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Mat-based Pilates focusing on improving flexibility and strength for the whole body. Slow, controlled movements for maximum effect and relaxation. This class is suitable for beginners and improvers.

      • PiYO

        Tuesdays, 6.05pm-6.50pm

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        PiYO combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We rev up the speed to deliver a true low impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean and defined.

        A progression from the small group training. There is still a focus on perfecting technique, but these classes start to add intensity to the lifts. A perfect introduction to those wanting to learn more about weight lifting and adding intensity to their workouts.

        In this class, we focus on perfecting technique, by adding intensity to lifts. A perfect introduction to those wanting to learn more about weightlifting and adding intensity to their workouts.

      • Strength and core

        Tuesdays, 12.05pm-12.50pm
        Instructor: Gemma M

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Strength and core works on switching on all our deep stabilising muscles so that we improve balance, core control and is great for injury prevention. The movements are slow and strong to allow for correct technique and form. You will definitely be challenged in a positive way and will end the class feeling like you have not only worked hard but achieved a lot.

      • Women's weightlifting

        Thursdays, 2pm-3pm
        Instructor: Sussex Sport Fitness Team

        Venue: Falmer Sport Complex 

        For all self-identifying women who are either new to weightlifting or are looking to build confidence in a supportive environment. These sessions will cover key movement patterns such as squats, pushes, pulls hinges and lunges (with a specific focus on mastering the squat and deadlift). Accessory movements will be taught alongside these key lifts, with progression and regression as needed. Please note this is more of a 'learning to lift' class, rather than an intensive small group PT session.

      • Yoga

        Mondays, 1.05pm-1.50pm

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Based on flowing sequences and precise alignment, linked to full rhythmic breathing that will open up the body and mind. This class will improve your strength, stamina and flexibility.

      • Zumba

        Mondays, 12.05pm-12.50pm, Sport Centre Hall Two
        Wednesdays, 1.05pm-1.50pm, Sport Centre Dance Studio
        Instructor: Gemma C

        Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind class that will blow you away.
